What's New This Year in the Middle School

There are some new and exciting things and changes coming to the middle school this year. Keep reading.

Yes, we are growing in Jesus and always want to be doing so. But, the CCS Middle School is also growing in numbers. Last year's middle school enrollment was 62 students.  This year we have over 80 students and may add a few more! To keep classroom sizes beneficial for instruction the 6th grade and 8th grade will have split sections. This will allow students to have more individual attention from their teachers.

Yes, Middle School Clubs are Back. Teachers are brainstorming what Clubs they would like to offer for the first trimester of this year. Each trimester students will have a chance to select a new club.

Clubs will meet every Thursday from 1:57 to 2:39 p.m. On the first day of school we will hold a Middle School assembly where clubs will be shared and explained. Students will then have a chance to sign up for a club the next day.

If you as a parent would like to sponsor a club for a trimester or more this year, please contact me at randy.hepler@conestogachristian.net . If you have any questions or would like to brainstorm a club, please reach out to me.

Middle School Choir
Because of our significant growth in the middle school, all 6th grade students will be in the middle school choir. 7th and 8th grade students will have the option of singing in the choir or participating in some type of service in our community or at school.

MS Discipline

At CCS we desire to provide an environment that nurtures Christlike character, is safe, is  encouraging, and fosters learning.  Of course the root word for "discipline" is "disciple." Our desire to is disciple and teach to which Christ's calls us. That is why we have developed a progressive discipline policy that focuses on relationship and communication with the students and parents for normal classroom behavior and other issues or concerns.  Our goal is to get to the heart of the behaviors or issues and help student through the power of Christ begin to navigate, resolve, or change. Failure to change will eventually lead to assigned demerits and disciplinary consequences. Of course more serious issues (fighting, inappropriate language, bullying, etc.) may lead to immediate consequences.

To help our teachers and students we have included more detail for clarity in the policy. We are not changing the policy, we are just seeking to be more consistent in style across grade levels.  To see the more detailed policy click here.
